Elena Monti: Milanese Soprano, destined to the Temple of Opera since she was a child.

From the Academy of the Theater alla Scala, an unquestionable talent.

Milanese, she graduated with honors at the Conservatorio Verdi in Milan, and then she took an advanced course at the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala.

Elena Monti, as she said herself, owes everything to her mother: “If today I am a soprano I owe this to her. My mother was a singer and pianist: in our house music was the air coming in through the windows when you opened them in the morning and the air that one breathed all day until it was time to go to bed. That air fed my childhood dreams.”

Elena Monti is blonde, with enormous blue eyes, a perfect oval face, as if it had been drawn with a compass: she is very beautiful, but she does not seem to know.

All her sweetness, all her discretion, are devoted enthusiastically to her work. She faces every achievement, every arrival as a new start.

Always smiling and harmonious, she is thankful for that love by which she knows to wrap herself in her private life: in the first place the precious and professional guidance of her mother and the constant encouragement of her partner. She does believe in Love as a source of inner balance.

One of her magical moments is when she sings under the direction of her myth, the maestro Riccardo Muti at the Withsun Festival in Salzburg. Among her great achievements, after multiple and important roles, Violetta in La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi, a role that she sang in Venice at La Fenice and in Madrid in concert form. At the theater alla Scala of Milan she sang for the opening concert of the festival MiTo 2012, conducted by Daniele Gatti.

Guest of important theaters among which we recall: the Teatro San Carlo in Naples where she sung in Il marito disperato by Cimarosa, in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les sortileges and, for the inauguration of the re-opening of the theater in 2010, Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito, conducted by Jeffrey Tate, directed by Ronconi with costumes by Ungaro; the Zurich Opera House, with Verdi’s Falstaff; the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino with Grieg’s Peer Gynt; the Teatro Verdi in Trieste in Peter Grimes by Britten and Rita by Donizetti; the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari in Schubert’s Alfonso und Estrella and Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera; the Teatro Maestranza in Seville in Manon by Massenet; the Teatro Comunale di Bologna in Boris Godunov conducted by Daniele Gatti; the Teatro alla Scala in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro; in the Salzburg Whitsun Festival with The Pilgrims at the Tomb of Our Lord by Hasse, conducted by Riccardo Muti; the Petruzzelli theater in Bari where she sang Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan tutte conducted by Roberto Abbado. In Tokyo she sang in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, a production of the Salzburg Theatre, and then returned for a recital; and again at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and at La Monnaie in Brussels.

In recent seasons he sang in Florence Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte (the role he has sung more often in his career); Mimì in Puccini’s La Bohème; Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni and again Fiordiligi at La Fenice theater in Venice.

The concert activities led her to Jerusalem to Graz with Mozart’s concert arias at the Strasbourg festival with the Stabat Mater by Pergolesi, directed by Rinaldo Alessandrini. She sang in Paris for Radio France in a series of baroque concertos. And also Mozart’s Requiem and Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Bach’s Magnificat and Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis in Milan, Malaga and at the Teatro Regio in Parma; and the fourth symphony of Mahler at the Verdi theater in Trieste.
