Beside his work as a conductor, Andrea joins with happy commitment that of the composer. He graduated with honors in Composition at the Verona Conservatory in 2012, and has already made several symphonic, chamber and theater works with a sense of humor and a joy that typical his.
Maestro Andrea Battistoni and is passionate, joyful, hungry and curious to all musical genres, which he weaves among them with astonishing agility creating, in his compositions, an original and overwhelming style.
Born in 1987, this young conductor has embarked on a career-flash that has led him to perform in the most important theaters in the world before he was appointed as as principal conductor of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra (the oldest Japanese symphony orchestra with a more than 100 years of history).
The Japanese, who are by far the most careful, rigorous and generous watchers-listeners, have focused on an Italian talent as Battistoni after studying him closely for years. This decision confirms the excellence of the Italian school.
Battistoni says: “… In recent years the Tokyo orchestra has perfected a ‘his’ way of opera and raised a generation of performers that has nothing to envy to the rest of the world. What is different here, is the way of organizing music and work. The management structure of these complexes is an example that we should import ourselves. it’s an opportunity that should be exploited with honesty and realism…”

As a child his mother, a pianist, has tried to educate him to sophisticated chamber music pieces, but Andrea had to discovered the profound joy in the orchestra.
At seven he began to study the cello and continued his studies at the Conservatory of Verona, where he graduated in 2006. Then he perfected in Germany with Flaksman and obtained a master’s degree in 2008. He also studied composition, graduating in 2013. He began studying conducting in 2004 specializing first in Russia then at the Fiesole School of Music and at the Music Academy of Stresa.
He has been First Guest Conductor of the Teatro Regio, Parma in 2011-2012, where he conducted numerous symphonic and opera productions during the Verdi Festival, also in prestigious tour abroad.
In 2012, aged 24, he was the youngest conductor ever on the podium of the Teatro alla Scala, with Le Nozze di Figaro.
Convinced that art belongs to everyone and should address the broader audiences, Battistoni has often led classical music in unusual places: he conducted the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala in Assago Forum, Milan, in front of 8,000 spectators; he conducted the National Symphony Orchestra in the concert for the 150 years anidversary of Italy Unification in Turin, for an audience of over 25,000 people and, for the first time in the modern era, an opera staging at the Teatro Farnese in Parma. He inaugurated the new Opera House in Muscat, Oman. All this to bring a younger audience to the great music.
This young man, aware of the talent and madness that accompany him, is their obedient and happy servant with a clear unconditional love, which does overwhelm with joy whoever approaches him.
Every year you can see him conduct an opera in the enchanting Arena in Verona, his hometown, and home of Romeo and Juliet.
